In-gathering for Local Area Foster Children
Did you know that every day in the United States 1,200 children enter foster care? Just imagine being removed from your home with only what you can carry, or worst yet taken from school with only what you have on your back. This scenario plays out every day when a child must be removed from a home for its protection and safety.
We can help make a sad time in a child’s life a little brighter by providing a few of the things they need while they are in transition. They will need a back pack, hygiene items, socks, undies, toiletries, a comfort toy like a teddy bear, and store gift cards (Walmart, Target) that can be used to purchase things like shoes and clothing. During our twice a year in-gatherings, an updated shopping list can be found on the wall next to the bulletin board in our church entryway. We will gather and assemble the bags in our family room after each in-gathering and then drop them off to our local area Foster Children agency.
Dignity Bags for Foster Kids is an ongoing ministry of Family of Christ. Items can be purchased any time you see a good sale and brought to the church. We will hold them until the next packing day.
